Affordable Options

The cost of senior living communities starts at $2,000 per month for Independent Living and $3,000 per month for Assisted Living and Memory Care.

Most senior living communities don't accept Medicare or Medicaid.  This means that families typically pay with private funds such as:

  • Personal savings

  • Retirement income

  • Long-term care insurance

  • Home equity

  • Financial support from adult children and other relatives

One government benefit that Assisted Living communities do accept is the Veterans Aid and Attendance benefit which is available to many veterans and their spouses.

Seniors and their families may also be able to deduct relevant health and dependent care expenses on their federal tax returns.
